Richard F. Glancy
Business Development Manager
After graduating from Johns Hopkins University, Rich took a job with Georgia Pacific Company in the management training program. He spent two years with GP before moving on to his family’s company, SPC, a global manufacturer of meltblown polypropylene sorbents.
Rich spent 21 years with SPC. He started out as a territory manager in the Northeast and moved on to build and expand new territories in the southern United States and in Europe. His primary responsibilities revolved around building distributors’ end user business through various programs involving brand identity and cost saving initiatives.
Rich’s family sold SPC to the Brady Company in 2007 where he remained for seven years in various management rolls. Seeing the need for a more focused spill control manufacturer, Rich joined forces with Meltblown Technologies in 2015, where he is a principle. Rich said, “There is a need in the spill control segment for manufacturers to work more closely with distribution to grow market share. Too many sorbent manufacturers are selling direct online or partnering with direct sellers of sorbents. Our strategy will be to work with distribution to penetrate and grow their present customer base. Spill control is still a growing market, our partnerships with selected distribution will make the experience of growing in the spill control market fun and exciting again.
Being back in a small family business where the distributor is the customer and where MBT can focus is exciting and has huge potential growth opportunities. I have seen how relationships grow and the distributor can actually count on a partner who has their best interest at heart.”
